“Can I really be my own boss?” I remember how hard it was to answer that question. I resisted for a while before I actually gave in. As a matter of fact, my husband did the same when it came time for him to make the move. Leaving a steady and reliable income, health insurance, benefits, etc. for the unknown is scary! It’s even scarier when you have little ones to think about. The decision to become my own boss didn’t come easy, but it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made; except of course marrying my husband – because of that I have my beautiful family. 😉
Have you ever wondered whether you can be your own boss? I’ve listed a few things that indicated to me that I could in fact by my own boss! Maybe they’ll strike a chord with you as well.
How do you know you can be your own boss?
You think about it non-stop
For me, the thought of becoming my own boss was consuming me. It was all I could think about and I found myself thinking about it night and day. I started googling what the process would entail. Eventually, I started buying books to help guide me through the process. If this sounds like you, then there’s a very good chance that you can be your own boss! Why do I say this? Because it means that you are very serious about it! It’s not something you thought of once or twice and then let fade away. It’s something that is gnawing at you and you are listening to your heart. FYI: You should always listen to you heart!
You are driven by passion
What do I mean by this? I mean you thrive when you are doing what you love. I mean you would rather be doing what you love and so you will put your all in to making sure it works. This was (and still is) me. I am very passionate about being my own boss. I’m very passionate about being in control of my day to day schedule so that I can plan my days around my boys. And that is why I will do whatever it takes to make sure that I succeed as my own boss. In a nutshell, my boys are my passion and I know that our best life includes me and my husband working for ourselves.
You are disciplined, hardworking and determined
When you become your own boss, you are your only source of income. If you don’t do the work, you don’t bring in the big bucks (or any bucks). You have to put in the work in order to reap the benefits. Unfortunately this means that there may be times when you are working for pennies but you still have to do the work. You’ve got to be disciplined enough to get through the lulls and the hardships so that you can make it to the other side.
If you have experienced any of the above, then it may be time for you to start putting a plan in motion! There’s nothing better than the feeling of being in complete control of your life!
