The Truth About Network Marketing

I wanted to take a minute to talk a little about the elephant in the room, or should I say on the internet. It’s a topic we are all too familiar with but maybe not for the right reasons. Anyone who uses Social Media has received a message once or two millions times from a friend of a friend of a friend asking if they want to buy their product or join their group. And because you had absolutely no interest in it at all, you banned the idea of Network Marketing for EVER! Slow down, it’s really not that bad. Let me share with you the real story behind network marketing and maybe, just maybe, you’ll change your mind about it!

Networking Marketing can mean a lot of different things depending on who you ask. To some, it’s an opportunity for a mom to work from home while caring for her children. To others, it’s a way to earn some extra income to pay off debt or to save for the future. To everyone, it’s a job and it’s valued! I feel like there’s a negative stigma attached to network marketing, but if done correctly and respectfully, it really is a great thing!

Here’s what you need to know about Network Marketing:

IT’S FINANCIALLY FEASIBLE 

For those of you who are new to my blog and don’t know it, I myself am a business owner. My husband and I own our own law practice. I started this law practice on my own over three years ago (you can read about that here). Here’s what I can tell you about starting your own brick and mortar business. There are a lot of upfront costs and overhead costs associated with it. If you are serious about it and want to do it right, then there are certain things you HAVE to do. For one, I had to form an LLC. I’m not going to go into why I had to do this, but just know that I did and it cost some money. In addition to that, I had to make sure I was insured – malpractice insurance is not cheap! I also had to make sure that I had basic supplies, i.e., computer, printer/scanner/fax, folders, labels, legal software, etc. Once I outgrew my home office, I then had to find office space and start paying rent!

When I decided to enter the world of network marketing, I signed up and the rest is history! That’s it. I didn’t have to do much else. Don’t get me wrong, I still invest time, energy, and money into it, but it’s different. If you have a computer, access to social media, and a passion for what it is you are going to sell, that’s all you need! I tell you all of this to show you the BIG difference between starting a brick and mortar business vs. starting an online business. This is obviously one of the biggest selling points to network marketing. You can set up shop from your home and get to work!

IT PROVIDES A CREATIVE OUTLET

I absolutely love being an attorney, don’t get me wrong. But if I’m being honest, I like the fact that my blog, and now my online business, allow me to be creative! I am a very creative person. I’ve always loved scrapbooking, DIY projects, writing, arts and crafts, etc. Both my blog and my online business allow me to be creative in getting my message across to others! Its fun! And let’s be honest, most of the time being a lawyer is serious and not fun! 😉

IT PROVIDES FREEDOM

Who doesn’t love freedom! Financial freedom, creative freedom, freedom with your time, you get the point! I love the freedom that my online business provides me with. As a mom of two young ones, you would think that I wouldn’t have the time to add more to my plate. But that’s just not the case! I can do my job wherever we are and whenever is convenient! I can wait til the boys are asleep, I can wake up before them and get some work done, I can even do it in between court hearings! It’s not a burden in the least bit! And the best part is that it’s allowing us to supplement our income. It’s basically a win-win situation!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A PEST

I think most people think that network marketing means you have to bother your friends, family, and strangers into joining you. That is so far from the truth! I am on this journey because I am very passionate about the products. Of course I would LOVE for everyone to join me, but I know that’s not the case. I will share information on my page, I will share my experiences on my page, but I will not pressure anyone into joining me. That’s just not how this works. If someone sees something I post and wants more info then I will gladly provide them with it! But I am not sitting here messaging everyone in my contact book asking them if they want to join in on my business! And yes, you can still be successful without harassing your family and friends <3

YOU DO HAVE WHAT IT TAKES

I know a lot of people out there think they don’t have what it takes to do network marketing. Heck, I’m pretty sure I had that same thought. But you do have what it takes! What it really comes down to is sharing your lifestyle, your passion, your everyday with the people around you. It’s showing them how YOU use the products so that they can see if it’s something they may like to use as well. If you have the drive to succeed, you will! As with any job, you have to put time and energy into it in order to see results. But it really comes down with just sharing with the world around you!

I would love nothing more than to see other mamas (specifically) join me on this journey. I think it’s empowering, it’s fun, and financially prudent among other things! But in order to see that, you first have to break away from everything that you THINK you already know about network marketing and embrace it for what it is – a chance to work from home and provide for your family! It can’t hurt you to open up your mind and your self to new opportunity! The only thing you’ll end up regretting is not trying!
